چکیده

In this article, we introduce the ongoing research in modeling and mapping for heterogeneous, customizable, parallel systems, as part of the effort in the newly established Center for Domain-Specific Computing (CDSC). This research combines the diverse backgrounds from multiple disciplines, including computer science and engineering, electrical engineering, medicine, and applied mathematics. The goal of this project is to look beyond parallelization and to focus on domain-specific customization as the next disruptive technology to bring orders-of-magnitude power-performance efficiency improvement to important application domains. The project initially focuses on medical imaging applications, which provide an important tool in diagnosis and treatment of most medical problems, but many advances in this field have been constrained to the research environment due to a lack of computational power. Orders of magnitude in power-performance efficiency improvement that this project is expected to deliver will have a tremendeous impact on the applicability of the current applications and on the development of new ones.

A Cloud Architecture for an Extensible Multi-Paradigm Modeling Environment

We present the cloud architecture of AToMPM, an open-source framework for designing domain-specific modeling environments, performing model transformations, manipulating and managing models. AToMPM’s cloud-based architecture makes it independent from any operating system, platform, or device it may execute on as well as any visualization of the modeling structures (e.g., textual or graphical). ...

Customizable Domain Analysis

Generative and Component-Based Software Engineering are approaches to reuse. Within both approaches the scope of reuse can vary between general purpose and application specific. We argue for scoping the reusable assets based on a product line. Domain analysis methods provide processes for determining the common and varying requirements for a product line. However, we experienced that existing m...

A New Formalism Technique for OCL

Modeling, especially domain-specific modeling has growing importance in many fields of software enginering, such as modeling control flows of data processing for example in man-machine systems. Customizable language dictionary and customizable notations of the model elements offered by domain-specific technologies makes software systems easier to create and maintain. Visual model definitions ha...

Architecture Framework for Mapping Parallel Algorithms to Parallel Computing Platforms

Mapping parallel algorithms to parallel computing platforms requires several activities such as the analysis of the parallel algorithm, the definition of the logical configuration of the platform, and the mapping of the algorithm to the logical configuration platform. Unfortunately, in current parallel computing approaches there does not seem to be precise modeling approaches for supporting the...

Towards Model-Driven Software Language Modernization

The introduction of Extensible Markup Language (XML) represented a tremendous leap towards the design of Domain-Specific Languages (DSLs). Although XML-based languages are well adopted and flexible, their generic editors miss modern DSL editor functionality. Additionally, artifacts defined with such languages lack comprehensibility and, therefore, maintainability, because XML has primarily been...
